core training/park day with new friends

On Sunday I just got done finished with CORE training for Vacation Planning. It was 5 long days of ughhh...so much information and 8 hour long classes is pretty intense but Im really excited to go to work tomorrow and put everything I learned into action...so, Wednesday through Sunday I will be training in my location with a trainer and on Sunday I have a assessment, once again super nervous! But I made a lot of new Vacation Planner friends during training and we have been hanging out on our last two days off. Yesterday, Katharine, her roomates, David, and I went to Epcot. MY FIRST TIME! it was a lot different than what I thought I really liked it. One of my favorite things was "Turtle Talk With Crush" its really for kids amusement but I loved it hahah. Today, Katharine, David, and I went to Animal Kingdom. We got through pretty much all of the park before it closed, so it was a lot of fun!:) Wish me luck on my first day tomorrow! oh! and heres some pictures from the last couple days!'

Catch Up...

Well...its been a few days since I updated everyone (aka my roommate since she is the only one who reads this haha).. Let's see what Ive done since I last wrote. 1.) Traditions 2.) Days off- PARK DAYS :) 3.) First day of training. Traditions was not too bad..We first got broken up into separate classrooms (by last name) and spent a while in there answering trivia, learning facts, etc etc... After a while we took a tour of Magic Kingdom, and then back to the classroom. Eventually, Mickey delivered our name tags and at the end we got them! Overall, Traditions was really just a lot of history and facts about Disney overall. Oh...and you get "critters" (little plastic Disney characters) for answering questions, so speak up! ( I got all but Pluto :/). After Traditions I had 3 days off! The first day off we went to the Magic Kingdom, but Emily didnt get off work until 2 so we waited on her and didn't get to spend very long there, but still had a lot of fun getting to spend time with the roomies. The second day Jordan and I went to Hollywood Studios ( my first time), it was a lot of fun...but I wouldnt say my favorite. And finally, Jordan and I went to Animal Kingdom yesterday. Animal Kingdom doesnt have as many "rides" but it was still a lot of fun watching the shows and of course Mount Everest! The roaring rapids ride was closed unfortunately, but will be back up in February! Finally, today was my first day of training or rather orientation to the park. We met at 7:15 am at magic Kingdom and got a full probably almost 3 hours tour of the park. After our tour we broke into our smaller groups having to deal with our concentration. There was only 5 people in my group: 3 were vacation planners, 1 was parking, and one was a transfer from downtown Disney to lost and found. We toured around the facilities we would be working in, I actually found out what I would get to be doing, and also we got to shadow them for a while. Basically, Vacation Planners are the people in the front of the park who take the tickets but we also work parades and greet people at the front of the park! I am really excited about it, everyone seems so close and nice, like a big family rather than a work place. We also got our costumes today, they arent too cute, but not the worst ones Ive seen lol.... I also discovered I will have to become a morning person, because all my shifts will prob begin in the morning and at LATEST be done by 5! I guess I shouldnt complain though, most people would love those hours. Well, I think thats about it for now. I have 5 more days of CORE training, a break on Monday and Tuesday, and then 4 more days of booth training then a final assessment on the 5th day. Ive been told it is a lot to remember and king of overwhelming but very doable, so I am going to do my best and hope I do well. Im going to attach some pictures from our park days, so enjoy! P.S I am going to post an apartment soon, I recorded it a while ago, but we cant figure out how to upload it yet...oh yeah the reason for my slackness on this blog: our internet has been out for 4 days now so I havent been able to get on...anyway...Thats all for now, wish me luck on my CORE training this week!

Downtown Disney

MOVE IN DAY!

Wow, its been a long day but a good day! I woke up at 5am to go pick up my roommate Laura and her boyfriend Evan from the airport. I dropped them off at Vista around 6:45 am but Jordan and Emily had already been there since 4 am! Laura actually had some friends in the front of the line so we were able to go almost straight to the front. First we picked up our schedules, then we found out where we would be working (I got MAGIC KINGDOM!!!), after that we had a little meeting about the ground rules, then went straight to housing ( we got CHATHAM !!!), then I got my parking stuff figured out( my insurance was fine all along how it was, I DIDNT need my name on the card like everyone told me), from there we went and talked to some people about more rules, we then moved on to a talk with a man about the classes they offer, and I found out I may not even be registered for classes like my adviser told me I was ugh.... We then loaded the bus to Casting at about 8:30. When we got there we just verified a bunch of stuff and showed out id's and got out of there before 10! We were so excited! After Casting we were able to come home and move in to our new apartment! We got a huge living room and Jordan and I got a enormous closet that I am in love with! I am posting pictures to show you our room and I will post a tour video tomorrow! We have a housing meeting tomorrow at 10:45 am and then nothing else until Friday. Friday we have traditions and all of us, besides Jordan, have the early session which is at 6:45 am ugh hahaha Luckily I get the weekend off but start bright and early Tuesday at 7:15 am followed by 5 more days of early rising hahah It's really been a great experience and it has only been one day hah

Venting UGH

Eventually, I will actually get to fun magical stuff having to do with the Disney Internship, but until then Ill just vent about all the things that are going wrong before Ive even started.( Man I'm a negative Nancy aha). The biggest thing at this point has to do with parking my car at Disney. Just recently my mom took my name off the insurance on my car and put it on our other car because it was costing too much. Well come to find out Disney WILL NOT let you park at the apartments unless your name is on the insurance card.... we have tried to change it but my mom told them I would be in Florida and they are trying to charge us double what it should be, even though it's registered in SC. So, I move in tomorrow and at this point have no where to park my car.... Secondly, the classes I am suppose to be taking. I am a travel and tourism minor and the adviser for Disney at Clemson told me that he would discuss with the head of Travel and Tourism about counting the classes through Disney for my minor. At this point he has cancelled 3 meetings with me, ignored most of my emails, and when he write back he said he doesn't know anything yet. I have paid Clemson $4,000 for these classes I am suppose to be taking and he won't even verify if they will count for my minor. I finally wrote the head of Travel and Tourism at Clemson and asked for his help, but if the classes I am registered for now don't count I can't register for new ones because the date has passed for that. So, I am super stressed and hoping that things are going to start going right. But, on the bright side Jordan and I are going to pick up Emily at the airport at 7:30, and then I am going to pick up Laura and her boyfriend Evan from the airport tomorrow morning at 5:30 am and then straight to move in! I should hopefully have plenty of happy stuff to talk about tomorrow and pictures of the roomies :D

My Arrival to Florida...

Well...it's official I am in Orlando! I am staying at Orlando Vista for two nights, and then on Tuesday we move in. Today had a crazy beginning, I woke up at 9 hoping to get off by 10 but mom surprised me with breakfast, and I didn't finish that until almost 10. After I finished that I was about to leave then I realized I didn't have the address to the hotel, so I went to pick up the sticky note I had put on the table with the hotel name and it was gone! I looked up several hotels and finally called one that I was pretty sure was correct, but when I called he said I did not have a reservation there. My mom and I continued to look for hotels that looked familiar and then she decided she would give the same hotel a call.....to only be told I didn't have a reservation. At this time I was freaking out ( mom had finally calmed down) and I was running an hour behind when I planned to leave. Finally, Mom found the sticky note and guess which hotel it was? the one we had been calling! So, mom called one more time to tell them we had a reservation number, and at this time the guy decided to tell us that they had changed their system recently and that is why my reservation didn't come up. UGH So, I was finally about to get on the road when I got into my car only to have my cat jump out of my mounds of clothes and knock my computer cord into my tea.....I figured I should just go to bed and start again, but Mr. Thomas dried it off and got it working and I was off! I stopped at the Georgia and Florida rest stops (Had to get that free orange juice), and got food and gas at some town outside of Jacksonville. It took about 7 hours to get here and I arrived to the hotel around 6:30 and checked in nicely. Its nice, other than the fact you have to be in the lobby to get on the internet, and its kinda sucky there anyway. Tomorrow, my roomie, Jordan, and I are suppose to hangout downtown before I pick up my other roomie, Emily, from the airport. Finally, the big day is Tuesday MOVE IN DAY! This is when we will meet our other roomie Laura. Jordan is from Colorado, Emily is from Wisconsin, and Laura is from California so we are from all parts of the US, im excited to see how we all get along! Well, im off to the room to get some shut eye. Night
